Welcome to this review of the Aerobie 80R08 Aeropress Coffee and Espresso Maker. Over the course of this review I will be highlighting who this coffee maker might be best suited to and who might be best off avoiding it.

Let’s start with the price, this is a comparatively very cheap way to make your cup of coffee, but do we sacrifice anything by paying so little for our coffee maker. Well, yes we do, but this really is a matter of preference. What is required here in comparison with an automatic machine say, is effort. It really can be quite a strain to make a cup of coffee using this machine.

First we insert the filter and then the coffee into the machine. Then we must manually measure the water we wish to add, using a separate measuring jug of some kind. Aerobie recommends using water heated to 75-80℃. Getting the water to exactly this temperature however requires some trial and error in the beginning.

We then mix the water with the grounds, Aerobie recommends approximately 10 seconds mix time, but this again is something you can play around with slightly to adjust flavor and get it to the exact taste that you want. Insert the plunger, position the machine over a sturdy cup and push.

Here is where I have a small grumble about this particular coffee maker. It really can be quite a strain to push the air through the grounds and force the water out into the cup. Also the cup that you place the machine on top of is taking quite a bit of pressure while you are pushing, and while as long you take care when pushing the plunger there most likely won’t be any problems, I feel there is still a risk of slipping and sending hot espresso all over the counter top.

Once the pushing is finished however you have the choice to either drink as espresso or dilute to drink as coffee instead.

I think my issue with this machine is pretty small however, and there are plenty of other reasons as to why this machine tops the Amazon.com best seller list. With it being almost entirely manually operated, there is a lot of room for adjusting flavor and strength of the coffee. You can adjust the water temperature level, something not possible with (most) automatic drip or pod machines. You can also adjust quite easily how long the coffee grinds mix with the water.

It is also very easy to clean and the low price make it an excellent option for anyone on a tight budget. In summary, I should say the Aerobie 80R08 is probably one of the best cheap coffee makers out there, and if you are irked by the manual labor involved in making your morning cup of coffee, then this machine could well be for you.
