Welcome to this review of the Breville BKC700XL. During the course of this review, I will be covering what makes this fantastic machine worth your money and hopefully allowing you to make a slightly more informed decision on whether this coffee maker is for you or not.
Anyone who has used a Keurig system will know how fantastic the K-cup system is, ad because it is implemented here with the Breville we have a feature that boosts this makes this coffee maker stand out quite nicely. Features and functions wise, the Breville is almost identical to the Keurig platinum B70, but with a few differences and not just that of price.
The Breville BKC700 has a fantastic pump, Keurig fans out there will most likely tell you that the noise the pump makes could even at best be a little bit quieter. That however is not the case here, the Breville BKC700 has a very quiet pump. This is an excellent feature which some may consider to be worth the additional $90 you have to pay for this machine over the Keurig. But this coffee maker doesn’t stop there, and provides us few extra little features that while might not be worth the extra cash do make a very nice addition. There’s the iced beverage function, which would be a lovely feature to have during hot summer months, and there is also a 4oz cup option included here, great for when you want a stronger cup of coffee.
The Breville comes in a stainless steel finish and has a design that works well in most kitchens. While I personally don’t think it quite matches the aesthetics of the Keurig machines, it isn’t the eyesore that some coffee makers can be. The unit is very sturdy and durable, the weight of it means it would be quite difficult to knock over, or have other sorts of accidents with. You are paying a little more, but getting a little more with the quality here to be sure.
The four different cup sizes we have with this machine are most definitely a welcome addition, however this can also lead to the occasional watered down flavored coffee when you first start using it if you aren’t careful. If you were to use the same regular pod with the 9.25oz cup as you do with the 7.25oz, it follows that we will get weaker coffee. It is however an option to use two different k-cup pods with the 5oz setting to get a stronger blend in a larger cup.
