Welcome to this Hubpage on the Capresso 455 CoffeeTEAM Thermal carafe stainless steel coffee maker. Over the course of this review, I would like to try and detail the key issues and features of this machine and allow the reader to reach a point where can make a confident decision as to whether to buy or not.
The Capress 455 is probably the most comprehensive coffee available to buy today. While there are plenty of coffee makers out there that come with a grinder built in, there are not very many that come with both the grinder and a thermal carafe. I would like to start off by discussing the thermal carafe and the pros and cons therein.
While it is true that glass carafes typically do a more than sufficient job when it comes to keeping coffee warm after the brew cycle has finished, it has to be said that glass carafes do a bad job of keeping the coffee fresh tasting. The majority of glass carafes I have used in the past have typically had burnt tasting coffee within 30 minutes of the brew cycle finishing. Thermal carafes on the other hand keep the coffee hot and fresh for hours. This particular carafe can keep the coffee hot for approximately 4 hours.
The grinder function is really very nice and we can program all the machine functions to happen while we are still asleep if we wish. This might not sound like the greatest feature in the world, but most people are on a pretty tight schedule first thing in the morning and this can save us a few important minutes and allow us a little breathing room.
One issue that we need to mention with this machine should be the fact that when we are using dark roasted oily coffee beans, the beans will have a tendency to stick to the side of the bean chamber and when the coffee maker tries to shift the beans into the grind chamber there are instances where the beans do not transfer properly and have to be pushed by hand, which kind of removes the automatic feature.
At around 300 dollars it could be said that this machine is a little on the expensive side, and with some of the above mentioned issues you might think it’s not worth the investment, but the thermal carafe and grinder (which works beautifully with light and medium roasted beans btw) make this a unit of serious consideration for any coffee lover.
Thanks for reading.
