When it comes to single server coffee makers you have a few choices, you can look at the Tassimo range of machines, the Senseo range of machines or you can look at a company that produces without question the best coffee makers that money can buy. This is a Keurig B70, B60 and B40 review and in this review I want to address which of these machines is the best coffee maker. Keurig have a reputation for excellence and with only a few negative issues surrounding their machines which we have to forgive as there are humans designing them, they are practically flawless.
In this review I will be covering the differences between these three machines and how those difference should affect your decision to buy. The price of these coffee makers, the number of cup sizes, water reservoir capacity are among the things that separate these machines and I will go over each machine for each person.
Keurig B40 Elite
The Keurig B40 is the cheapest of these three coffee makers at approximately 110 dollars. It comes with a 48oz reservoir, 2 different cup sizes (8 oz. and 10 oz.), and while is fully automatic, does not comes with a programming function. The lack of a programming function is probably the biggest issue with the Keurig B40.
Keurig B60 Special Edition
The Keurig B60 (You’ll notice that there is no B50, there was previously, but it is no longer in production) is a little bit more expensive at around 140 bucks. This unit comes with the same capacity water tank as the B40 at 48 oz. Here we have an extra slightly smaller cup size, useful for increasing the strength of the coffee. A total of 3 cup sizes (6 oz., 8 oz. and 10 oz.). The Keurig B60 is also programmable, so there are 2 notable extra features over the B40.
Keurig B70 Platinum
The Keurig B70 is the last of three and also the most expensive at around 170 – 180 dollars, depending on where you do your shopping. With the B70 we have an increased size water reservoir at 60 oz. There is also now an extra 2 brew sizes over the B60 with a total of 5 cup sizes for this machine (4 oz., 6 oz., 8 oz., 10 oz., and 12 oz.). The smaller 4 oz. means that can brew espressos with ease and the bigger 12 oz. cup size means that you shouldn’t have any problems brewing into a larger coffee “mug”. The B70 like the B60 has full programmability as well.
So as you can see, the B70 clearly has features that beat the other 2 hands down, but it does so at a cost. The thing we really need to consider before buying is whether we need to spend an extra 60 or 70 dollars for the more expensive machine. If you only need the 8 and 10 oz. cup size setting, and you don’t mind the lack of a programming function (all the machines brew coffee in just 30 seconds anyway) the Keurig B40 could well be the option for you. I would not however that the noise level of the pump on the B70 is improved over the other machines, so there is another reason there to look at the Keurig B70.
So in conclusion, I would say that because there is no real difference in the quality of the coffee over all three coffee makers, you should make your choice based on whether you need the extra functions of the Keurig B60 or B70 versions.
