Welcome to this review. Today I will be covering a coffee maker from Krups. The Krups KM4065 Precision Stainless Steel Coffee Maker with 12-cug Glass Carafe. It is my hope with this review to enlighten the reader and hopefully allow you to reach a point where you can develop an unbiased and balanced opinion of this machine.
I would like to start by mentioning the aesthetic, while I would not personally choose a coffee maker based on how it looks alone, it is always going to be one of the key factors that determine how well a particular unit sells. This unit really does excel in this area with a very nice stainless steel finish it should appeal to a lot of different kinds of people.
The water reservoir with a capacity of 12 cups of coffee should be sufficient for a home use coffee maker, there are not many coffee brewers out there that have a larger brew capacity and after 14 cups you are probably looking for either a commercial coffee machine or a percolator to meet your needs. The opening where we pour in the water to fill the reservoir is also of an ample size, whether you use a separate water pitcher to fill the tank, or you use the carafe you should be able to complete the task without any spillage.
This is a little on the expensive side for a unit without a thermal carafe. Putting the price to one side for a moment I would like to address the issue of no thermal carafe. While I think that glass carafes definitely still have a place, that place is on 20 dollar coffee machines. The benefits of a thermal carafe far outweigh any negatives in my opinion. The one thing that I might mention as a positive feature for glass carafes is the pour rate. If you don’t like a narrow stream of coffee coming out of your carafe and having to wait a minute to get your coffee then perhaps a glass carafe is the choice for you.
There is hardly any leaking with the Krups KM4065, I have seen plenty of machines with leaky seals on thermal carafes, but this is not one of them. The dual programming function is also great, being able to have weekends on a different timer setting to weekdays means we don’t have to keep fiddling around with the controls.
I hope that this review has been informative and you are now a little better able to choose your next coffee maker
