Welcome to this review of the Bosch TAS4511UC Tassimo coffee maker. It is my intent with the following few paragraphs to deliver to you the information required to make an informed decision when it comes to buying your next coffee maker. I think this machine is definitely one of the better single servers out there at the moment and we can see this quite clearly if we take a look at the Amazon best sellers list.
If you are a big fan of the Tassimo range of coffee makers, then you may well have already the Braun model of this machine. You will also be happy to learn that this machine is much improved over previous models and I will now quickly go over some of the key points where this unit has gotten better.
The Bosch model is thinner than previous machines so will fit much better on your kitchen side. There is a power switch on the front of the unit now, which makes for easy turning on and off of the unit. The unit is generally extremely quiet, a big gripe for some people. If you look at some of the Keurig models, while they are really excellent machines can be a little on the noisy side. The Coffee is much bolder than in previous models, a big issue if you want to make a bigger cup, which leads to another really great feature of this machine for me personally. If you hold the power button down towards the end of the brew cycle you can dispense extra water to increase the cup size.
This model is very durable and seems to be of high quality construction, this is always something I look for in a machine, and it is always a shame to find out a machine is comprised mainly of tacky cheap plastic.
There is a water filter indicator to let you know when it needs changing. The Bosch unit doesn’t collect waste water so there is no wastage; this was a common gripe with the previous Braun model.
This unit while excellent in general does have a few irritating points that might put some prospective buyers off. Let’s quickly go over them now.
The T-discs are usually best purchased from Tassimo direct and while they have wide selection available, the ordering process is an absolute pain in the ass. Basically Tassimo only ship on Friday, so if you don’t have your in before the Wednesday prior, you will not get your batch until the following week! This is just outrageous for a company of this size. Unless you find a reputable online dealer or local store that stocks the T-discs, then you will just have to make do.
All the above said however, I thoroughly recommend this machine as one of the better single serve coffee makers available at the moment.
