Welcome to this review of the Keurig B40 Elite Gourmet single-cup Home Coffee Maker. While some reviewers say this machine has weak coffee, I just have to disagree. There is always a solution to this kind of problem, just use stronger k-cups, more coffee or a smaller cup size, problem solved.
Over the course of this review I will be detailing the key issues that affect the Keurig B40 both the positive and the negative. First let me start out with some of this machines pluses.
In previous Keurig single servers there had only been 1 cup size, but here with the B40 we now have 2 cups sizes. The overall taste of the coffee is excellent and doesn’t leave anything to be desired. The sheer volume of k-cups we have to choose from is brilliant. I couldn’t be happier with the options available, just head over to Keurig.com to see for yourself. There is no pod leakage with the Keurig, unlike some other machines we could mention which have dodgy track records to be sure. There is also no delay after the brew cycle ends. A lot of machines I have previously encountered have had slowly dripped the last bit of coffee into the cup forcing me to wait for an extra 20 seconds or so.
Some negative reviewers have said that the coffee is weak and while I agree that it can be weak depending on how you setup the machine, with just a few adjustments we can make the coffee strength to suit our needs. I think those people who have reported weak coffee were probably using the larger cup size with the regular pods. All we need to do to change this is adjust the pod strength to bold or even extra bold and we should have a coffee strong enough for most people.
Also with these machines there is no filter to change and no messy coffee grounds to deal with every time we make coffee. While I don’t mind transferring the filter from the casket to the trash this is a very welcome feature with the pod system machines and I don’t think I will be going back to filters any time soon. If however you prefer to use filters over the pods, then you won’t be disappointed either, you can just buy the Keurig My K-cup reusable filter and make the coffee as strong as you like and choose from your preferred gourmet coffee blends whether they are on the K-cup list or not.
